An Updated Version of our Timecode Plugin NOW for Mac & PC

TCFXM 2.0 brings OSX Catalina & Big Sur compatibility as well as Window 10 compatibility to the TCFXM plugin that originally began with Matthias Bürcher's "Belle Nuit" Timecode Plugin.

It allows arithmetic and conversion functions for use with timecode and footage.

To install the plugin, download the respective playground file.  There are separate playground files for the OSX and Windows versions.

It is recommended that you delete any old versions first, and you can hit the “Verify” button to quickly confirm if you have an old version on your system and can navigate to its location on Finder / Explorer to remove it.

Hit the “Install” button and a confirmation window will appear to inform you that the plugin has been installed.  You can then verify that the plugin was installed in your preferences window.

The "Playground" file also includes layouts with fields that will allow you to test the plugin with live calculations to get a feel for how the plugin works.

*Note: There is both a 32-bit and 64-bit windows version available.  Upon loading the Windows Playground file, clicking the “Install” button will auto detect if you’re using a 32-bit or 64-bit build of Filemaker Pro and will automatically install the appropriate version.

We are offering our plugin as donorware.  We needed this plugin for our use and wanted it to share it with the community.  If you find it equally useful, we’d appreciate any donation which will allow us to continue developing the product as needed.

Thank you to Matthias Bürcher & Rainer Standke for their work in building this plugin.  We are thrilled to be able to continue this product and keep it available to the community.

TCFXM 1.0 is still available and compatible with FMP14 – FMP19 up through OSX 10.14 (Mojave).  Please visit this link for TCFXM 1.0

“The codebook section alone was worth the price for the tutorial for me. That’s the kind of stuff I just couldn’t learn on my own. Self-confidence level skyrocketing with every chapter!”

“This course has been so informative. You have done an excellent job distilling the information down in a clear and concise way. Between this and shadowing my friend recently I feel ready for my first real substantial scripted show.”

“Just finished up Module 5 (Editorial). Along with all the wonderful technical education from all the lessons, the editing room diplomacy lesson in this module was really good and vital. Working habits and attitudes generally determine what keeps an assistant editor in the job or not and it’s super important to have the correct attitude and habits as specified in this lesson. Thanks so much for a fantastic job guys!”

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What does an assistant editor do?

A: Assistant editors are the people that deal with every aspect of a production through the major stages: production, editing and finishing. The assistant editor will get to know every single frame of the film: every performance, every sound, visual effect, and every music cue. They are the unsung heroes of the cutting room and at Master the Workflow, we train you to be a feature film assistant editor at the highest level.

Q: Can’t I just learn on the job?

A: Of course you can learn on the job. The journey of an assistant editor is one of constantly learning and improving your own workflow. But the demands of the job spin at a ferocious pace. Speed, accuracy and efficiency are the key words.

That said, it can be very hard to land your first job, especially if you are unfamiliar with the concepts and intricacies of the cutting room. This course will provide valuable insight to allow you to approach an interview with familiarity and insight. Enrolling in our course mean you can learn the ropes at your own pace, and in a low-stakes environment.

Q: There are loads of certification classes out there, what makes this one different?

A: Feature Film Assistant Editor Immersion 1.0 was developed and created by working Hollywood professionals. It teaches the tasks, processes, and skills you need to know in order to survive in this incredibly competitive environment. The course doesn’t just teach you how to operate a piece of software, it takes you step by step through each phase of post-production and gives you a detailed, hands-on, in the trenches understanding of the assistant editor’s role in that process. There is no shortage of classes offered on how to use the stalwart of the editing business: Avid. Film schools and many other training facilities deliver an abundance of Avid certified courses. What these classes don’t teach you, is where Feature Film Assistant Editor Immersion 1.0 really stands out.

Q: How is the course delivered?

A: The course is presented by Richard Sanchez and delivered via our website in pre-recorded HD video tutorials. Downloadable transcripts, slide decks (for relevant lessons), and audio mp3 files for every lesson are included.
